Lionel Messi is a name that is recognized all around the world. The Argentinian professional footballer and captain of both Barcelona and the Argentina national team is widely regarded as one of the greatest players of all time. He has achieved remarkable success throughout his career and has won a record six Ballon d‘Or awards. Messi was born in Rosario, Argentina on June 24th, 1987. He began playing football at the age of five and was quickly recognized as a prodigy. At the age of 13, he joined Barcelona’s youth academy, La Masia. He made his debut for the club in 2004 and has since become an integral part of the team. On the international front, Messi has been equally impressive. He made his debut for the Argentina national team in 2005 and has since scored over 65 goals in 128 appearances. He has won the Copa America three times, the Golden Boot twice and the Olympic gold medal in 2008. Throughout his career, Messi has achieved remarkable success. He has scored over 700 goals for club and country, making him the second–highest goalscorer of all time, behind only Cristiano Ronaldo. He has also won a record 34 La Liga titles, 10 Copa del Rey titles
