What an unimaginable presentation of power hitting by Glenn Maxwell in the Cricket World Cup! Nicknamed The Big Show,’ Maxwell lived up to his moniker by smashing a record-breaking century in just 40 balls. His fireworks at the crease, which included eight fours and eight sixes, propelled Australia to a massive total of 399-8 against the Netherlands in New Delhi. The Australian team’s collective performance left the cricket world in awe.

In a remarkable turn of events, Australia proceeded to bowl out the Dutch for a mere 90 runs, securing a record 309-run victory. Maxwell’s stunning assault not only earned him accolades but also surpassed the previous record set by South Africa’s Aiden Markram, who scored a century off 49 balls at the same venue just 18 days ago.

Reflecting on his astonishing achievement, Maxwell admitted that he wasn’t expecting such a performance, given how “cooked” he felt earlier in the day. Nevertheless, his explosive innings cleared his head and allowed him to deliver a remarkable display of power-hitting.

Maxwell’s 40-ball century was the fourth fastest in the history of One Day Internationals (ODIs). The top three fastest centuries in ODIs are held by AB de Villiers (31 balls), Corey Anderson (36 balls), and Shahid Afridi (37 balls). Despite falling just short of his career-best score, Maxwell’s knock of 104 was instrumental in Australia’s dominant victory.

Australia’s captain, Pat Cummins, described Maxwell as “a freak” and rightfully so, as the clean hitting and sheer power on display were truly exceptional. Dutch bowler Bas de Leede endured a tough day, finishing with figures of 2-115, marking it as the worst ODI performance.

This record-breaking presentation by Glenn Maxwell and Australia’s telling success has set an exclusive expectation in the Cricket World Cup, passing on fans and savants anxious to observe seriously exciting cricket activity in the competition.
