Australia call off bilateral ODI series with Afghanistan after curbs on women education by Taliban

Cricket Australia have withdrawn from the three-match ODI series against Afghanistan scheduled to be commence in the UAE in March.
The decision has been taken followed by the ruling Taliban furthers restrictions and ban on women education and employment in Afghanistan.
Cricket Australia led this decision and call off bilateral series after had a brief consultations with relevant Australian authorities.
According to CA Statement regarding this “ Cricket Australia is committed to supporting growing the game for women and men around the world, including in Afghanistan, and will continue to engage with the Afghanistan Cricket Board in anticipation of improved conditions for women and girls in the country.”

ICC CEO Geoff Allardice acknowledged that recent developments were “concerning”, and said the topic would be raised at the ICC’s next meeting.


Surprisingly, Afghanistan is only full active member of ICC who doesn’t have women’s cricket team and is not being participated in U19 Women World Cup in South Africa where others 16 U19 Women’s national teams are participating.
